District Courts 

 

There are 94 federal judicial districts with at least one district in each state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, The US Virgin Islands, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands. The US district courts are the trial courts of the federal court system. District courts have jurisdiction to hear almost all types of federal cases .

Appeals Courts 

 

The 94 districts are then broken down again into 12 regional circuits that have their own United States court of appeals. An appeas court hears appeals from the district courts within that circuit. Appeals court have nationwide jurisdiction for specialized cases such as patent laws and cases ​dealing with international trade and the court of federal claims.

Supreme Court 

 

The Supreme court consists of the Cheif Justice and t Associate justices which is fixed at eight members by Congress. Justices can only be nominated by the President and serve a life long term. The Jursidiction extends to all cases. The supreme court interprets national law and the consitituon. The decision of the Supreme Courts are final after the sessions.
